Chief Reporter - Kent Messenger
It has to be one of the most sought after positions in the regional press - and it does what it says on the tin.
A rare opportunity has arisen to lead the team of reporters on the KM Group's flagship title. You will need to be a star reporter looking to get a big break in your career, or an experienced journalist looking for a new challenge.
While there will be some managerial responsibilities in terms of your role within the team, I don't want my number one reporter wasting time filling out diaries and handing out press releases - you'll be leading by example by bringing in a constant stream of off-diary exclusives and spearheading the daily newsgathering operation.
You'll work closely with the newsdesk to ensure that our team of reporters are focused on the number one priority of pulling in a regular supply of top quality content from Maidstone, the Weald and Malling for the KM, website and radio.
You'll have razor sharp news sense, be a tenacious and campaigning journalist and have a fantastic work ethic. I will expect you to write faster, better copy than anyone else in the newsroom, have the best contacts and come up with the best ideas.
The KM is 151 years old and has always stayed true to its founding principles of providing a trusted and comprehensive record of local life. Times have changed, of course, but we are still a newspaper which cares passionately about its readers and the things which affect their everyday lives. Multi-award winning and twice winner of the regional newspaper of the year, the KM continues to set the highest standards in local journalism.
Can you play your part in carrying on that success story?
