The Students’ Union is an independent charitable organisation that aims to enhance the student experience by representing the interests of all students at Canterbury Christ Church University, both individually and collectively. It promotes and organises representational, educational, welfare, social, cultural and sporting support and activities for the student body to access and participate in. The post-holder ensures that the Union provides and continues to develop a strong framework of control that will support the production of timely and accurate management information and financial analysis. In addition there will be the requirement to provide support and financial advice and guidance to the Union’s Representative Officers and staff. A key part of the role is to prepare accurate and timely accounts, including monthly management reports and financial statements for the Board of Trustees.
You will be a part qualified Accountant or hold the AAT qualification, and have significant experience in a busy finance office. In addition you will have experience of producing Management Accounts, including the Income and Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet, compilation of VAT returns, annual budget and cash flow forecasts. You will be highly organised and have the ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines. Experience of using SAGE and online banking systems are essential.
