An opportunity has arisen within a major Government sector client for an Infrastructure Technical Architect. The role would see the successful candidate perform the necessary leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks related to the development of an enterprise technical architecture.
Role Responsibilities:
*Understand, advocate and augment the principles of Enterprise Architecture throughout the organisation.
*Drive technical architecture by analysing business the enterprise business context.
*Recommend solutions for improvement through analysing the current environment.
*Determine the impact of market trends on the enterprise.
*Work with the Operational managers to define the principles that guide technology decisions for the enterprise.
*Design and lead the implementation of Enterprise Technical Architecture (ETA).
*Assist with designing the governance activities associated with ensuring ETA compliance.
*Liaise with key stakeholders to create high-level designs for technical architecture.
*Oversee the detailed designs and ensure compliance with hardware and software standards in place or sound business justification for deviation e.g. the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
*Working with operational managers to consult on application and infrastructure development projects to fit to the technical architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate project needs.
*Identify the impact on the organisation and financial costs.
*Document necessary technical architecture design and analysis work.
Skills/Experience Required:
*HMG experience ( IL2 / IL3 )
*Deployment and management experience of the network and platform infrastructure
*Network experience in a secure environment (routers, switches, hubs, bridges)
*Depth in key infrastructure areas & Width across all other infrastructure areas:
Storage
Virtualisation
Computing (servers, workstations, hand-held)
Software (Operating systems, management systems)
Services (internet access, hosting, IaaS)
Transmision (telephone, wireless, cable, satellite)
*Architecture experience in defining roles, policies, standards & technologies that manage the networks and computing platforms
*Experience of defining firewall policies
*Experience of Oracle, Dell and NetApps
*Experience of Governance and Change Requests
*SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) skills in an Oracle environment
*Must work well as part of a team.
