Senior Bid Manager

£55 - 70Kper annum

Maidstone, Kent

The role of the Senior Bid Manager is to provide leadership and management to the existing team of 4 other staff in the bid team within the Acute Business Unit whilst also performing a Bid Manager's role to the highest possible standards.

General leadership of the bid team to include:

* Acting as the initial "triage" point for all incoming leads/OJEU notices before passing leads to executives for further bid/no bid qualification
* Acting as the main point of contact both internally and externally for all bid and general sales related enquiries
* Responsibility for resource management and allocating tasks amongst team members
* Management of the team to include setting objectives, conducting appraisals, etc
* Responsibility for managing individual bids & tenders, from the point of formal tender (e.g. OJEU) to contract closure, ensuring that all activities are completed to the company's expected quality standard within the appropriate timescales and according to the company's bid and sales approval process;

* Acting as the main point of contact for the procuring authority
* Ensuring that at the various stages of a bid, the appropriate inputs are received, collated, reviewed and submitted
* Responsibility for completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ) with minimal direct input from others
* Responsibility for completion of OBS / ITT responses and all other associated bid documentation

* This requires a greater degree of specialist input from others although ideally the bid manager can assist by pre-populating as much of the OBS/ITT as possible from previous bids and the bids database
* Communicating closely with a wide range of colleagues to ensure quality input to the bid is achieved within the bid timescales. This includes liaising with:

* Sales lead and Sales Director
* Commercial, financial and legal specialists
* Product & technical specialists
* Deployment/resourcing and service/support specialists
* Bid reviewers
* Executive team / bid approvers
* Third party organisations / business partners
* Colleagues in the wider bid team

* Initial review of others' input, editing and amending as necessary
* Management of all bid documents, ensuring that the shared document repository (SKIP) is updated as needed
* Arranging for peer review of submission documents (PQQs and ITTs etc.)
* Ensuring sign-off is achieved at the key stages of the bid, according to the Bid & Sales Approval process
* Responsibility for production and submission of bids on time and via the appropriate methods (ePortals, email, hard copies etc.)
* Working closely with the sales lead, demo team etc. to facilitate other aspects of the bid/sales process, e.g. helping to arrange demos and site visits etc


Person Specification:

Knowledge/Experience This is a senior role requiring a person with experience, credibility, persuasive interpersonal skills. This role requires a degree educated person, or equivalent experience, with 8+ years' experience in commercial & public sector bidding, tendering for contracts with individual TOV >£5m.

* Writing skills - both creating content and rewriting/editing others' copy

* Technical (ICT) skills
* Creative problem solving - understanding the client's requirements, writing responses and liaising with colleagues to ensure that the response is acceptable
* Understanding of corporate structure & knowledge of who can be co-opted to assist with bids & tenders
* Solid understanding/knowledge of the product/service offerings
* Interpersonal/persuasion skills


Desirable Skills

* Commercial, legal and financial skills
* Selling and account management skills (client facing) would be an asset


Communications and Working Relationships:

* Working closely with the sales lead, demo team etc. to facilitate other aspects of the bid/sales process, e.g. assisting in the arrangements of demos and site visits etc
* Working closely with the Director of Bid Management and Sales Director to ensure that processes are adhered to and corporate objectives are being met
