Senior Care & Support Worker

Senior Care & Support Worker

Do you have a good sense of humour? Can you think on your feet? Do you have a ‘can-do’ attitude?

If the answer is yes and you also have experience of working in a residential setting, mental health nursing or working with individuals with substance/alcohol dependency, we have a great next step for you. We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Care & Support Worker for our homes in Upstreet. The ideal individual will be flexible but reliable, organised and ready to make a positive career move.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • ‘Running’ your shift

  • Administering medication (subject to training)

  • Supporting the clients to lead as ‘normal’ a life as is possible within a residential setting.

  • Working in a client-centred manner to support the clients to attend to their personal care, depending on their individual abilities. For some of our clients, this means prompting them and making sure they have everything they need, eg towels, shower gel etc. For other clients, you may need to assist them with every aspect of their personal care.
  •  Keeping accurate records.

Once your induction is complete, you will also be responsible for taking clients off the premises, eg to healthcare appointments or for social reasons.

Successful applicants must be responsible, level-headed and mature in approach. You will be able to understand the complex needs of this client group, have an empathic and flexible approach, as well as the ability to be proactive and forward thinking. You will be working as part of a team of support workers providing 24hr care to the clients. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with a good basic knowledge of IT.

All applicants who feel they have the key skills and attributes required are encouraged to apply. No previous experience is necessary. Full training plus regular supervision and support will be provided. Due to the vulnerable nature of our clients, this position requires a full CRB check with Enhanced Disclosure.

We support all staff with their personal career development, offering a full training package and regular opportunities for promotion and additional responsibilities. In addition, we offer a benefits package including 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday, childcare voucher scheme, weekly staff personal training sessions and much more.

This position is for between 36 and 48 day hours per week, including alternate weekends. Wage from £7.50p.h. depending on experience, plus enhancements.

Closing date for applications: 25th January 2013
