Systems Administrator

A talented Systems Administrator is required to provide full support to the department's end users. This role will encompass supporting the internal infrastructure comprising of a mixed environment with Windows and Linux servers.

The role of the Systems Administrator will include:

?Providing desktop & server support to the Linux & Windows internal infrastructure
?Documenting tasks and providing up to date back up for disaster recovery
?Management of MySQL Databases, VoIP servers
?Provide out of hours support to the business
?Identify areas of improvement for the business and ways in which the IT department can run more efficiently
?Front-end web development using JavaScript, AJAX, XHTML, CSS and related technologies.
?Backend web development; creating dynamic content that interacts with MySQL databases using via PHP to sit with your front-end development.
?The extension and maintenance and upkeep of our current websites to ensure their smooth running.

Due to the nature of this role, this would suit an IT professional with experience of 1st - 3rd line support as hands on server support will be needed and you will be providing full support to the business' end users and customers.

You will be required to build computers from scratch using component parts and understand how these components interact and work at their optimal performance.

You must be able to think on your feet and be able to cope with multiple tasks simultaneously. This role requires the support and understanding of Google Apps and the email domains that they control. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of support multiple users on Gmail accounts and understand Google Apps settings.

The successful candidate will support the servers in general and understand both the LAMP Stack and Windows within a VM Ware/Hyper-V environment. They will also support a network environment distributed between multiple sites and support multiple remote users.

We also require the development of web solutions and applications to the highest standard, and assistance in the planning, architecture and specification of web-based technology solutions. The Systems Administrator will have a significant role in the planning of overall company strategy regarding web development and search engine optimisation and will be responsible for integrating MySQL database with the websites.

The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge and experience:

?Supporting/Administering Windows Servers
?Supporting/Administering Linux Servers
?Comprehensive knowledge in administering Active Directory
?Networking i.e. TCP/IP, VoIP, DNS
?Supporting IIS web servers
?Strong experience in using MySQL
?Supporting users within a call centre and/or high pressure environment
?Standard Google applications, not least Google Analytics and Google indexing
?Programming either within the Microsoft Office 2010 environment and or general web programming would be an advantage. Including .Net and PHP Frameworks
?Full software development lifecycle: from requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
?Commercial experience in Web Application development and / or software development.
?System testing and documenting solutions
?SEO knowledge
?XHTML coding is highly desirable

Essential Skills

?Strongly proficient in W3C standards
?Solid commercial PHP (with at least 4-5 years' experience), MySQL and jQuery development experience.
?Strong knowledge of CSS and exposure to CMS
?Hand coding JavaScript.
?Understanding of Ajax
?Cross browser compatible template creation and fixes
?Front-end development including jQuery and Prototype
?Building and maintenance of core PHP based applications.
?Develop the programming code from scratch or by adapting existing packages and software to meet business requirements
?Linux server administration
?Monitor the web server and site technical performance
?Skills in software graphics manipulation and web programming
?Stay on top of advancing Internet and computer technology and its effects to the business environment
?Ability to work individually or in a team to beat tight deadlines
?International web standards and protocols
?Estimating time and resource requirements for technical projects.
?PC trouble shooting and Maintenance
?Domain control management
