Title: Commissioning and Grants Officer

Starting salary: £30 870 (to rise with increments)

Work base: Home based working (if requested); OPCC is based at Sutton Road, Maidstone, and occasional attendance at Compass House in Ashford

Hours: 9-5, but flexible working

As Commissioning and Grants Officer, you will work to the Commissioning Manager, to deliver the PCC’s commissioning and grant funding responsibilities. You will have a key role in ensuring services are complying with their obligations, assessing performance, risks and outcomes and identifying opportunities for development and improvement.

You will need to have a keen eye for detail, and preferably have experience within contract management, commissioning, or procurement.  High level IT skills and an analytical approach are crucial in order to evaluate and interpret data, potentially from different sources, alongside being able to identify and understand risk to effectively monitor service provision.

You must have experience of working in partnerships, with multiple stakeholders, and be able to adapt your approach to a variety of audiences and be enthusiastic and self-motivated. You must have a structured and methodical approach and be able to deal with several competing demands in a complex environment. Naturally, you will possess strong interpersonal skills and you will be confident in both writing reports and presenting to senior managers. You should also be educated to A-level or equivalent. 

Experience in a policing environment, or having a project management qualification, would be beneficial.

The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager. This role requires a level of vetting and is also politically restricted.
