Aldi to hire Kent apprentices

Aldi is looking to recruit around 15 apprentices throughout Kent this year.

The supermarket will be looking for people to begin work at its existing stores in Canterbury, Dover, Gillingham, Hythe, Maidstone, Margate, Ramsgate, Sheerness, Sittingbourne and Strood.

It will also be hiring for upcoming stores in Aylesford and Herne Bay which are due to open later in the year.

The company aims to hire more than 700 apprentices across the UK with its recruitment drive closing at the end of October.

The courses in retail management last for three years, with a mixture of in-store and theory work.

Apprentices who complete the training will be able to progress to assistant store manager, with a starting salary of £30,000.

Regional managing director Graham Hetherington said: “The Aldi apprenticeship scheme has been hugely successful in delivering hundreds of roles for dedicated people nationwide in the four years since we launched the scheme.

“We’re now looking for a record number of candidates to join one of the most dynamic and fast-growing retailers in the UK, with a proven track record in developing and progressing its staff.

“Aldi’s apprentices are given real responsibility from day one, with the opportunity to learn about the business from a grassroots level, and we expect our recruits to progress to a management position with us.”
