Applicants are invited to apply for the Head of Operations vacancy within the Port Operations department, based at the Port of Sheerness. Role Purpose: To carry accountability for the efficient utilisation and deployment of people and plant across a complex and varied business in the Medway division. To oversee the development of operational best practice and their deployment across the division, In addition promoting and maintaining positive customer relations and to ensure that the provision of service meets their demands and expectations The Head of Operations role will include the following responsibilities: -Oversee the development of operational best practice and their deployment across the division -Ensure the delivery of business objectives and KPIs including but not limited to operational financial and QSSHE -Promote and maintain positive customer relations ensuring that that the provision of service meets customer demands and expectations. -Be a role model for all Operational teams, demonstrating leadership behaviours, set standards and inspire other to achieve business objectives -Ensure all new and existing activities are carried out in compliance with agreed quality standards -Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall and day-to-day productivity and profitability through operational improvements -Develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including senior managers, employees, customers, labour suppliers and Trade Unions -Support people to become successful through training, coaching and mentoring -Proactively lead change, championing new approaches promoting effective communications -Exceed customer expectations through operational change -Promote effective performance management Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience: -Strong operational management credentials, including cost control and continuous quality improvement -Strategic outlook, able to oversee and take an aerial view, but 'deep diving' where necessary -Personal credibility, able to work with customers and suppliers and manage stakeholder relationships -Experience of work in a matrixed environment is preferred -5 GCSEs of Grade C or above including Mathematics and English, or equivalent qualification -A full valid Drivers Licence -Educated to degree level, or equivalent educational/operational experience is desirable -IOSH Managing Safety in Ports is ideal -Completion of Management of Terminal Performance would be advantageous In return you will receive: -Competitive Salary -Excellent Holiday entitlement -Generous Flexible Benefits Package -Company Pension with matching contributions of up to 10%
