Multimedia Journalism Apprentice

Do you want to begin a career in journalism without the expense of a university course? Then KM Group's Apprenticeship Scheme could be the break you are looking for.

Being a journalist is one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs you could do, but it's a tough industry to get into.

Our Apprenticeship Scheme is designed to spot candidates we think have the ability to make a successful career as a reporter and offer them an alternative path into journalism.

This is the fifth year we have run an apprenticeship scheme after our first four appointments proved to be a big success.

Our new apprentice will spend two years working at KM Group offices across the county gaining an insight into all aspects of journalism, including writing for newspapers and websites and gaining video and radio skills.

The apprentice will spend one day a week studying at Lambeth College, where they will work towards an industry-recognised qualification. At the end of their apprenticeship, they will be in a position to become a trainee reporter at the KM Group.

This is a paid apprenticeship, with a salary of £7,500 plus all business and training related travel expenses. Course and exam fees are included.

Our ideal candidate will NOT have already taken a journalism course but WILL demonstrate:

·  A keen interest in news and current affairs

·  A good standard of written and spoken English

·  The confidence to work alongside our journalists in busy newsrooms

·  The dedication to study for qualifications including shorthand

If you think you could be our next apprentice, please apply by completing the online application form as well as uploading your CV

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre at either our Whitstable office or Medway office on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 where they will take part in exercises and a short interview. Candidates may be asked to attend a second interview on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.

The new apprentice will start with us in September.

The closing date for applications is July 12, 2017
