Job Title: Head Chef
Immediate Supervisor: Andrew Gibson
Hours: 45+ including shift pattern for weekends. Usual finish 5:30pm.
Pay: Dependent on experience. Competitive
Main purpose of the job:
To produce the highest quality food for the Farm Shop Café and to assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Enthusiasm and attention to detail are key. We are a busy family run business and expect good quality food to be presented at all times within tight timescales. We have in store some of the best produce in the Country and would expect a successful applicant to share our enthusiasm and passion for quality food.
Main duties and responsibilities:
·Work with the other chefs to prepare a consistently high standard of food for the Farm Shop Café
·Produce new menu recipes, ideas, daily specials and general changes/improvements to improve our offering/service.
·Be prepared to do additional hours during holidays and other absences
·Ordering of all ingredients, hygiene and cleaning products for the kitchen as directed
·Processing supplier deliveries, including temperature checks on goods as appropriate.
·Recording and monitoring of all wastage from the kitchen
·Be prepared to assist with outside catering e.g. special events if required
·All food produced must be of the highest safe standards
·Assist with HACCP procedures and ensure these are carried out, monitored and recorded correctly throughout the kitchen.
·Ensure high standards of hygiene are achieved in the kitchen area and maintained at all times
·Ensure that the kitchen and equipment is left clean, and tidy at the end of each working day and that this is duly recorded
·Be prepared for and accommodate the Environmental Health Officer on routine and spot checks carried out throughout the year
·Record all processes in line with the Food Standards Agency ‘Safer Food for Better Business’ guidelines
