Thank you for your interest in the position of Volunteering and Fundraising Manager at Kent Union. We are a successful, vibrant and exciting organisation with a bright future ahead of us. We have achieved a great deal in the last few years, more than doubling in size to our current £11 million turnover, 500 employees and 2,000+ volunteers. Kent Union is a great place to work. We were re-accredited with Investor in People Gold status in December 2013, and were accredited with Leaders in Diversity in 2013; we were the first students union in the UK to achieve Investing in Volunteers status and have been included in the Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For, for 8 years, placed 24th for 2017.
The Student Activities Department is at the heart of Kent Union offering a wide range of co-curricular opportunities such as sports clubs, societies, volunteering and fundraising; giving members the opportunity feel part of a community, make lasting friendships and enjoy their time at Kent. The post holder will oversee the function of the Volunteering Team at both the Canterbury and Medway Campus; the team are responsible for supporting and delivering volunteering projects, Raise and Give (RaG), Student Committees (colleges, satellite campuses and international students) and Community Action Groups. This year we have been given some additional funding from the University to co-ordinate and support projects that aid retention, prevent drop out and improve the student experience including Canterbury Nightline, the Kent Buddy Scheme and pre-arrivals orientation days, so it is an exciting time to be joining the team.
We are looking to recruit a self-motivated and driven manager to provide maternity cover from November 2017 to December 2018. From overseeing the team, to supporting RaG and student committees with their activities, this is a varied role, but one that is incredibly rewarding. We are looking for a team player who has experience of working with, empowering and supporting volunteers, as well as managing people and projects.
