Position: Support Worker Location: Herne Bay, Kent Contract type: Part time, Permanent Salary: £15,194.44 pro rata About the Role: On a daily basis Affinity Trust empower people to meet their aspirations and goals in life, and to live as independently as they wish. They work with people who have a range of support needs and their focus is always on the individual and how best to support them to live the type of life they wish to live, to have fun and make memories In this role you will be working in a Supported Living service. The people they support have varying levels of support needs. They support people who have a learning disability, who may also be on the autism spectrum, have physical disabilities, complex needs, and associated health needs such as epilepsy or mental health needs or dementia. Some of the people they support may at times show that they are unhappy through their behaviour. This can be a way for them to control their environment when they are unable to communicate their hopes, needs and fears. You will work as part of a team to support them to make structured changes to their life to achieve a positive outcome. They always base their support on the specific needs, choices and aspirations of the individual following their principles of person-centred support. About You: You will need to have excellent communication and be able to use a range of skills to support people who may have little or no verbal communication, to enable them to actively participate in choices about their life. Some of the people you will work with may have behaviours that challenge and so you will need to be able to be creative and flexible in your approach to support people through good days and bad days.
