Our client specialises in the supply of technologically advanced equipment to the leisure industry. As market leaders in their sector, they now require an R&D Manager to establish a department.

Position Title* Research and Development Manager
Reporting to* Managing Director


* Project Specification
* Internal Test Certification Management
* BOM Management
* External test Certification Management
* Drawing and documentation management

Accountability and Objectives

* Good communication skills
* Applies all relevant international compliance/regulations
* New Product Costing through liaising with Production
* Ensure Service and Support and Production are up to speed with relevant info
* Monitor patents

Key Responsibility

* Establish and manage an R&D department
* End-to-end responsibility for developing new products
* End-to-end responsibility to upgrading/changing existing products
* Liaise with internal and external developers
* Liaise with existing workforce to develop R&D creativity via formal and informal meetings
* Actively searches for best-in-class technologies among competitors and developers
* Develop innovation roadmap
* Establish and maintain operational budgets for the R&D team
* Cooperate with all departments to ensure product specs are correct
* Work to KPI's

Skills and Qualifications

* University degree in engineering or equivalent is required
* Further R&D qualifications appreciated
* Min 3 years' experience in an R&D project management
* Extensive knowledge of technical applications and manufacturing methods
* Broad understanding of mechanical, electronic, software and their mutual integration
* Good knowledge of key IT tools, eg CAD, Microsoft Office

Mindset and Interpersonal Skills

* Strong leadership and ownership is required
* Capable of promoting team-working and collaboration
* Analytical rigor and solid process management is required
* Drive for excellence is essential
