Hand Media International are currently looking for an ambitious and motivated Editorial/Digital Manager to join a fast-growing, friendly and successful publishing team.
The digital-editorial manager is responsible for the production, management and continual improvement of digital and editorial across the Hand Media International portfolio. We are looking for someone with a passion for digital content who can lead the editorial team to produce high quality content for the publications, website and our social channels, ensuring they are highly accessible, usable, and measurable, and effectively engages with our target audience.
Supporting our group editorial activities and our commercial interests you will take a proactive approach, understanding the needs of the company and reacting quickly to events around you. You will be an outstanding communicator, who can network at all levels and have an interest in content that meets the needs of a diverse and discerning portfolio of products.
The role requires proven editorial and project management skills with a flair for innovation, a good eye for design, and an understanding of website design and brand identity. You will need to use a range of website technologies and adapt to new ones that will connect with our members. You'll need to be familiar with content management systems, HTML, analytics, usability and search engine optimisation. We will also expect you to take on an editorial role for one of our magazines.
Responsibilities will include:
Work with Head of Digital and Sales to develop and implement a content strategy.
Day-to-day management and development of the studio.
Edit, adapt and rewrite content as required and copyedit, proofread and quality control before publication using content management systems.
Oversee the production of our weekly and monthly e newsletter, Professional Update, and manage the workflow of other print and digital activities.
Supervise multimedia production, identifying need and the most effective usage and ensuring members can access current and positive material via the appropriate channels.
Oversee social media activity across multiple channels.
Line manage and develop the editorial team.
Maintain a high standard of business as usual while developing a new website and new processes.
Realising opportunities for organic growth
Working seamlessly with colleagues in Sales, Production and other departments
Making presentations externally at editorial board meetings and other settings
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Previous experience in a publishing environment and ideally experience in managing a studio
Strong commercial acumen
Ability to work to deadlines and manage a busy workload
Flexible attitude and strong team player
Strong communication and presentation skills
Sound knowledge of MS Office products
