Water Lane Café is a new establishment in the heart of the historic city of Canterbury, next to the beautiful River Stour.

Getting there

This role is based in the centre of Canterbury, up to 15 minutes’ walk from the train and bus stations.

Description of Vacancy

Are you an outgoing individual with great personal skills?

Would you like to gain an Apprenticeship in Customer Service whilst playing a key role in the running of a new establishment in the heart of Canterbury?

The Water Lane Café, in the heart of the city, is looking for two Apprentices to perform front of house duties that will contribute towards an enjoyable, memorable experience for its visitors.

Responsibilities

The role will include but is not limited to the following:

Taking orders from customers and processing accordingly
Basic front of house operations
Ensuring the presentation of the site is well maintained
Managing and meeting the expectations of customers
Providing hospitality services in private and public functions
Assisting with the organisation of functions
Basic bar management responsibilities

Wage

£105 per week (based on £3.50 per hour)

Plus tips

Hours

30 working hours per week – 6 working hours per day.

Shifts will include Saturdays and Sundays with days off midweek.  Shifts will include mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Qualifications Required

Grade E or above in English GCSE.

Skills Required

Good personal skills
Good communication skills

Personal Qualities

Due to the customer-facing nature of the role, the successful applicant should be able to demonstrate their ability to speak in front of large groups.

Punctuality is essential for this role and applicants must be able to demonstrate their ability to arrive at the workplace in time.

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
