(Normally 14 hours per week, 09.00hrs to 17.00hrs Tuesdays and Thursdays. This role is offered initially as a 12 month project assignment)
Volunteers at Canterbury Cathedral contribute to every aspect of Cathedral life, from worship to visitor welcome, collections management, bell ringing to 'holy' dusting, stitching and flower arranging.
The Cathedral relies heavily on its team of volunteers to provide a warm Ministry of Welcome to its many worshippers and visitors and is committed to actively supporting and promoting volunteering and developing volunteering opportunities for people from all sectors of the community.
The role of the Volunteer Coordinator is to build upon and enhance the existing Cathedral volunteer framework and to further develop and implement a sustainable volunteer strategy at Canterbury Cathedral to ensure our volunteers form an integral and effective part of the community and are well supported.
The role will involve extensive communication with new and existing volunteers so that they feel involved and motivated, along with liaison with key managers to ensure the systems developed are suitable for all.
Candidates should have experience in a similar position, a strong administrative and IT background, be articulate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and able to work on their own initiative and flexible hours when necessary.
