This challenging and exciting opportunity requires a professional from a geotechnical / piling / ground engineering background. Due to continued growth, new investment and recent contract awards across the UK, our Client has an exciting opportunity for a Design & Estimating Engineer to assist in their further ambitious expansion plans. The role will be based within a South East regional office and will work on projects predominantly throughout the region. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a general commercial aptitude, coupled with previous design and estimating / tendering experience within the civils / geotechnical / ground engineering sectors. Role Summary • To successfully contribute to the build-up and submission of designs, estimates / bids / tender proposals for geotechnical and piling projects • To produce competitive and creative designs and bids for a wide variety of ground engineering schemes, all in response to client demands • You will work in a close knit team responsible at all stages for aspects relating to the budgets, costing and financial elements of technically complex, client focused schedules • To co-ordinate the financial / cost process and to work closely with the client, employers representatives and legislative bodies • To co-ordinate bids in line with the clients design requirements to ensure that the information flow and progress achieve the necessary deadlines • Pursue existing clients and new customer contacts to assist in the procurement of work winning and potential future work opportunity • To work closely with the Regional Director, Discipline Manager, and other members of the team to ensure that the company position is maintained at the highest potential level • To undertake specific projects at the request of the Chief Geotechnical Engineer • Geotechnical liaison with NHBC and other regulatory bodies • To act as consultant to the company on Geotechnical matters Requirements • Able to demonstrate a stable career path within recognised civil / geotechnical / ground engineering companies, ideally with experience of a wide variety of schemes including piling and foundations works packages • Be able to operate hands-on in a non-confrontational manner and thrive in a team orientated environment • Be able to demonstrate sound commercial acumen but with the ability to delegate necessary responsibility • Must be able to demonstrate successful client management techniques • To have experience of successfully negotiating and completing designs and bids with a host of public and private sector clients • Should have presence, be well presented and outward going • Must have excellent time management skills, being able to effectively prioritise and delegate against deadlines • Open to new ideas, not set in their ways able to think laterally • Ensuring maximisation of financial return whilst maintaining and developing relationships via service levels and quality of the management process • To be able to take a strategic view and prioritise effectively • A motivator and team player who is able to evaluate problems or issues and offer solutions The Client Our client is proud to be one of the UK's leading Piling, Foundations, Geotechnical and Ground Engineering contractors and has earned an enviable reputation for quality, innovation and customer service.
