Our clients require a Shift Maintenance Engineer to be responsible for assisting in all machinery, plant and building maintenance in a high-speed metal manufacturing factory.

To provide a rapid response to machine breakdowns due to the necessity of minimising delays in the manufacturing process or machine standing time.

To undertake responsibility for the analysis and repair of Mechanical & Electrical maintenance.

A basic knowledge of Hydraulic, Pneumatic and PLC's would be an advantage.

To demonstrate a 'right-first-time' attitude and ensure that any enforced temporary repairs are duly recorded and that the appropriate repairs are completed satisfactorily when scheduled.

Demonstrate good communication skills and have a 'can-do' attitude to the job.

Content of the position:

To ensure all H&S, hygiene and quality control procedures are adhered to.
To repair breakdowns of factory equipment efficiently.
To maintain equipment in accordance with agreed schedules.
To ensure the service and work area is kept clean and tidy.

The nature of the position means that you will work in an environment with moving machinery and with a level of noise while the machines are powered up or running. Protective equipment is supplied to protect you and those under your supervision under these working conditions.

As a Maintenance Engineer you are expected to be self-reliant, able to take decisions quickly on own behalf, and to distinguish situations where problems should be referred to a Departmental or Senior Manager.

You must show an ability to be able to follow internal procedures, written and verbal instructions and be able to communicate machine or breakdown situations effectively to your colleagues. The work is very hands-on, and training is given "on the job".
