The Fox and Hounds is a traditional country pub set within National Trust woodland, with fine walks and views from the top of Toys Hill. In fact it is said to be the highest pub in Kent, and has been the site of an establishment selling beer since the early nineteenth century. Aside from the picturesque setting, the F&H boasts a fine range of home cooked seasonal food, and wide drinks selection. It is a family run pub, led by Tim and Jo Harvey since December 2016. Their aim is simply to provide a welcoming environment for all, giving customers the reason to come back time and time again. This is a doctrine etched by their previous experience in the service industry, whether leisure or financial services. Your Responsibilities will include: • Maintenance of a safe, hygienic and secure working environment • Working effectively as part of a hospitality team • Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food • Prepare and finish simple salad and fruit dishes • Prepare and cook fish • Prepare and cook meat and poultry • Prepare hot and cold sandwiches • Produce cold starters and salads • Maintain an efficient use of food resources • Prepare, operate and clean specialist food preparation and cooking equipment • Complete kitchen documentation • Set up and close kitchen • Cook vegetables • Maintain an efficient use of resources in the kitchen • Present menu items according to a defined brand standard • Promote new menu items Personal Qualities : • Passionate about developing your skills in the hospitality sector • A willingness and desire to learn • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings • High standards of cleanliness and hygiene Skills Required : • Pride in delivering excellent service • Team player who is reliable, honest and able to use initiative • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment • Organised multitasker • Creativity and imagination for food presentation Future Prospects : On going training and development encouraged by the employer which will give the applicant the opportunity to move on to a full time job. Training to be Provided : Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship - Food Production Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths Functional Skills in English Functional Skills in ICT Other Information : The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week) Things to consider : The key dates are to be used as a guide only.
