QA Technician

Our client is looking for a QA Technician to join their growing Quality Assurance (QA) department.

You are likely to have a minimum of 1-2 years testing/QA experience or a similar length of time in a technical software support role, and now looking to develop new skills. You should be able to demonstrate good experience of working desktop applications used in the financial reporting or accounting software sector. You may also have had some exposure to automated testing, and documentation of specifications, work programmes or similar schedules.

Responsibilities

First-line testing of templates.

Execute testing programmes for the above templates and follow up results.

Assist in the preparation of specifications for development team and accompanying testing programmes.

Maintain and enhance test plans, test scripts and test methodologies that ensure exhaustive testing of all assigned software systems to ensure compliance with software/system specifications.

Collaborate with developers to improve overall product quality by emphasizing defect prevention throughout the development process.

Document and implement applicable QA processes and procedures to provide more effective quality methods within the business.

Liaise with the development team to ensure that bugs, enhancements and fixes are effectively identified, tested and signed off.

Identify areas for improvement in all areas of the QA process and systems, through analysis and experience.

Ensure consistent application of, and adherence to project management and other policies relating to the product cycle.

Help set and maintain standards for Quality Assurance test documentation.

Ensure that project schedule is adhered to and the work is completed according to the schedule.

Maintain good working relationships with peers in the product development, project management and client service teams.

Communicate critical issues and status updates in a timely manner.

Initiating and updating product release documentation.

Provide reporting metrics to Quality Assurance Manager as required.

Other administrative and technical tasks that may arise in the general course of business.

 

Experience

You are likely to have:

1-2 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or software support role

Strong problem-solving ability

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong work ethic and an ability to work with minimal supervision

Patience and persistence

An attention to detail and accuracy

Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team

You should be comfortable with change and happy to challenge existing practices

An aptitude for learning new skills

A commercial awareness of the importance of QA, its impact on customer experience and its place in the procedures and structure of the development cycle

Exposure to automated test routines

Some exposure to broader IT work, for example scripting or database management (not essential)
