Nellsar are among very few care home providers that are focused on the holistic approach when it comes to our residents and the menus we provide. Our in-house Nutritional Therapist works closely with all of our kitchens, providing support and advice in menu planning, training and guidance for the whole catering team. This helps to make your role easier in offering the best food you can to the people we provide for. We are looking for a Chef who is passionate about cooking, the people they are cooking for and facilitating the development of the team This person will have a knowledge of healthcare catering and willingness to enhance this crucial and specialised skill. Our kitchens provide for individuals with chronic illness and cognitive decline; this inevitably includes special diets and high nutritional needs. A Nellsar chef is expected to be able to cater for this kind of clientele on a large scale. We are looking for a Head Chef with excellent leadership skills, who want to continue to build on their management skills, knowledge and staff support with professionalism. Building a positive relationship with the people we are catering and caring for - this is very important to us Nellsar provides for you: Ongoing training - Any areas you would like support with, for your own development, such as: Functional Skills (English and Maths) development, dementia training, skills development, enhancing techniques. We provide all of our Chefs with ongoing nutrition training. The food we eat is not just about the calories we provide, but the nourishment and presentation too. Support in cooking for residents with diabetes, dementia, small appetite and chronic illness. We have a menu data base that you can use and add to Catering Responsibilities and Duties: To plan and produce a rotating four-week menu cycle. The menu should be agreed with the Home's Registered Manager and will be flexible enough to satisfy all individual residents' dietary needs, within budgetary constraints. To provide a varied diet, catering for the cultural preferences of the people who use our services. To cater for celebrations and other events in the Home, as requested by the Registered Manager. To establish and maintain a rapport with individuals or their families, in order to satisfy their dietary needs. To liaise with the Registered Manager, Nellsar Nutritional Therapist and staff to ensure suitable nourishment is provided. To prepare, cook and serve meals for residents and others as required, in accordance with company guidelines and in a timely manner (good time management). To be responsible for ordering supplies within the catering budget and company policy guidelines, using approved suppliers. To check deliveries against invoices/delivery notes and address any discrepancies, which must be reported to the Registered Manager. To maintain accurate catering records as per Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) To participate in inspections by Environmental Health and/or CQC and Local Authorities. To maintain a high standard of hygiene within the kitchen by adhering to HACCP and COSHH guidelines. To assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Health & Safety and Welfare.
