Employer Description

Chameleon Care are providers of domiciliary care, live in services and support with daily living for adults who live in the community.

We aim to provide our service users with a personalised service catering for any extra support that they require to live a dignified and independent life.

In their homes, we have been providing professional home care and domestic services since 1991.

Staff are subject to DBS and are thoroughly vetted, they receive full and on-going mandatory training.

We cover Dover and Deal.

Description of Vacancy

Facilitating the needs of clients in a way that respects their dignity as an individual and promotes independence, you will be dealing with all aspects of day to day living. This can include social and physical activities, personal care, mobility and meal times.

Being a domiciliary support worker is a varied and responsible job that will include some or all of the following tasks and responsibilities to provide emotional and practical support to our clients.

  • Assist in the promotion of mental and physical activity of service users with social and leisure activities such as conversation, reading, writing, hobbies and recreation.
  • Support with the collection of prescriptions and shopping.
  • Prompt, assist, administer and record the taking of medication, enabling the service user to maintain their prescribed regime.
  • Provide personal care that will involve washing, bathing, hair washing, dental care and toileting needs.
  • Encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
  • Make and change beds, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty commodes , and assist with heavier domestic tasks as required
  • Read and compose reports, participate in staff and service users meetings and in training activities as directed.

Being a support worker is a rewarding, interesting and varied career – but it can be demanding and strenuous at times and the hours can be unsociable. Commitment to the role and responsibilities of the position is vital, as is an empathic, responsible attitude.

Hours

Working over a rota system as follows:

Days to be confirmed

Over 30 hours per week.

With a 30 minute lunch break.

Qualifications Required

GCSE Maths and English or equivalent Level 2 Qualification.

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework - consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
