Gopak is a furniture manufacturer based in Hythe, and produces a range of lightweight aluminium framed folding tables, lightweight staging and a range of stylish tables and benches all of which are marketed to schools in the UK along with many educational establishments across the globe.

Our products are also purchased by community organisations, including village halls, churches and any organisation or individual requiring a multi-functional folding furniture solution to make the most of their space.

Description of Vacancy

We are seeking apprentices to join our loyal and dedicated team of production staff who will have the opportunity to learn and develop manufacturing skills, work with CAD machines, and be involved in the complete manufacturing process, through to realisation of the end product and final despatch to the end user.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, able to multi-task and have a high attention to detail.

Full training will be provided. The role will include:

  • Utilizing Computer  Numerical Control Machines ( C N C ) in the form of Bespoke Aluminium  Machining Centres and Wood routers.
  • Light manual processes utilising Jigs.
  • Light assembly of our staging systems.
  • Basic IT Skills will be taught so that the SAP business system can be used.

Travel information: Parking available onsite. Walking distance from the Hythe High Street, and periodic bus routes. Nearest train station is Sandling or Folkestone Central.

Hours

7.75 hours per day Monday to Friday  8am to 4.30pm

45 minutes unpaid lunch break

Qualifications Required

Minimum achieved Grade D or equivalent in English and Maths.

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard- consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
