An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer / Book-keeper to join us at the Powell-Cotton Museum Trust. Moving from contracted services to a permanent post, the trustees recognise that this role is an essential part of our small team in order to grow our operations and maintain a consistent and professional Museum. The Powell-Cotton Museum Trust is a registered charity. The Trust is due to inherit residential and commercial properties, and arable farmland. There will therefore be an increase in the diversity and complexity of accounting practice as well as the types of expenditure on projects and developments that need to be accounted for.The Finance Officer / Book-keeper will be responsible for undertaking the efficient operation of the Trust's financial systems (planning, budgeting, accounting and reporting) and the maintenance of associated records. Working closely with the Director and CEO you will ensure that the financial controls, policies and procedures of the organisation are fit for purpose and work as intended to safeguard the assets of the Trust. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual who is capable of working independently and can identify and implement ways of improving working practises and processes. You will be able to work independently and show initiative in designing and implementing new systems. You should have experience of working with budgets and databases and have excellent IT & analytical skills. Good knowledge of Sage 50, and Excel is essential as is the ability to identify trends and spot errors. You will be a part-qualified accountant or hold an equivalent financial qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience of SAGE 50.
