I am recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Service Engineer that lives within the West Kent, Sussex or South East London areas.

My client is a global leader in its industry who started from humble beginnings in the early 1900's

The role of Mechanical Service Engineer is a full time permanent position. Approximately 43 - 48 hours per week, plus one weekend in every three weekends, or Tuesday - Saturday with no on call.

Mechanical Service Engineer responsibilities -
Comprehensive repair and maintenance service to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment at various locations throughout the UK. You will be requested to fit/strip retail equipment component and carry out general maintenance duties at various sites of work. You will also carry out reactive maintenance and planned preventive inspections and testing on various electro-mechanical equipment.

You will work alone from a purpose kitted service vehicle, repairing a variety of equipment from the rear of the vehicle.

You will liaise with the Service Office through the telephone and email and you will have a strong understanding of using a Smartphone relating to Apps and Emails.

You must be able to complete both electronic and written worksheets as required.

You will be aware of, and follow at all times, the Company Policy relating to the provisions of working equipment and ensure any damage to the equipment is reported and any lost equipment is reported immediately.

Your initial training for the role will be at their Essex site for 3 days, then dependant on individual, you will do infield training for 2 - 6 weeks. This role also requires you to attended all relevant training sessions that are deemed necessary by the group, subject to reasonable notice.

For this role, you as an individual must:

- Live within the West Kent, Sussex or South East London areas
- Be punctual, reliable and flexible
- Customer focused, friendly and able to liaise fully with Customers at site
- Good electrical and mechanical fault finding ability, coupled with maintenance skills with suitable qualifications
- A demonstrable employment history working in Hydraulic fault finding and repair, electrically astute on both single and three phase systems (240v/415v) and be mechanically minded (would suit someone who is an ex plant or agricultural engineer)
- Ideally an engineering background as much of the work will involve troubleshooting and repairing Dock Levelers, Scissor Lifts, Cardboard Balers and Industrial Compactors
- Hold a full UK driving licence with minimal to no endorsements (foreign driving licence applicants will be considered, however the applicant will need to change to a UK licence within 90 days from their start date, at their own cost)

The salary is £11.00 - £13.50 per hour DOE. £2.04/hr location premium if living within M25 orbital.

Lunch breaks are paid additional (totaling the 48 hours). Overtime is available at 1.5x for above the 48hrs, however this must be agreed in advance with Line Manager.

Every third weekend on call, guaranteed pay of 8 hours x 1.5x for Saturday and 2.0x for 6 hours on Sunday.
