Are you able to help people live safely & independently in their own homes?
Kent Fire & Rescue Service (KFRS) has recently introduced a team of Home Safety Officers (HSOs) and have a number of vacancies.  HSOs visit vulnerable people at home to help them live safely and maintain independence.  You will not only improve fire safety but may be required to work with other agencies to support people’s health and wellbeing. 
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the ability to make informed judgements, act with sensitivity and confidentiality and be highly effective communicators. The role involves an element of lone working. You must have good literacy skills and a basic qualification in safeguarding issues.
The post holder will be required to work county wide and have use of a fire service vehicle to carry out the role.  A local work base may be agreed to enable the post holder to undertake duties within a certain area of the county subject to the needs of the business. Normal working times are 9am to 5pm, Mon – Friday, and there may be some requirement to work in the evenings and weekends. An enhanced DBS check will be undertaken before an offer of appointment can be made.
