Are you a Trainee Accountant? Forget accountancy, become a Dynamics NAV / Dynamics 365 Business Central Consultant – full time – Salary £20k - £25k

We are looking for a polite, personable, professional that wants to take a leap in to what is a very rewarding career. You should be either:

  • degree educated, or
  • A-Level educated (including maths) and currently studying for an accounting qualification.

The Company…

Tres Tria Limited was formed in 2004 and we sell, implement and support business systems throughout the UK. In particular, the main software that we sell is Microsoft Dynamics NAV, recently rebranded to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (but previously known as many, many things, one of which was Navision). We also sell Independent Software Vendor (ISV) solutions as part of our portfolio of products. These are “add-ons” that enhance the core Microsoft solution. We are basically a small busy team of software experts. We are based on the Medway City Estate in Rochester, Kent.

The Role…

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central consultants (think we should shorten that to just 'consultants' from now on) are few and far between in the UK. Tres Tria are investing our time and knowledge (we’ve been involved with the solution since it first came in to the UK in 1995) in training up the next generation of consultants. We need someone who is self-motivated and who is looking to invest their time in learning the ins and outs of a best of breed Enterprise Resource Planning solution. At its core, the solution is a finance system, and so the role is best suited to someone with a small amount of history as an accountant/book keeper. However, the solution covers the entire business from CRM and Service Management to Inventory, warehousing and manufacturing. The solution is vast, and is not something that you will ever be fully trained on.

To sum up what a consultant is, it is someone that can meet a customer, discuss their business, and configure a solution that exactly fits the way that they want to work. It is someone that can understand the goals, and then figure out how to get there, including identifying where the software does not meet the requirements and will need to be tweaked by our software developers. It is someone that, whilst they may not know the entire solution, they know the fundamentals, and know how to figure out what they need to know. It is someone that can discuss, analyse, configure, design, test & train, and finally hand-hold the customer through to Go-Live phase.

Sounds great, but how do you get there? Well, it’s a very rewarding career and every day is different…. Except that’s a small white lie, as you don’t know anything about the solution yet, so you first have to learn. So how do you learn? Some courses, which you won’t appreciate, as until you meet a few businesses and understand the types of things people are concerned about, you won’t appreciate what you are being taught. And, the best method of all, providing support to already implemented solutions for our customer base.

And so, the Role is for you to become a Consultant by starting as a Support Consultant, answering the telephones and helping out where-ever possible. You will understand that you have at your disposal some of the best, most experienced consultants in the country, and all you have to do to become as good as them is ask questions.

The Progression…

As mentioned above, the solution is vast, and isn’t something that can be learned in a few weeks. The reality is that it will be at least a year and possibly two before you start going out on site. Apart from answering the phone and assisting with some of the more routine stereotypical questions, you will be given other project related tasks such as testing and data migration. After a year, you will move a little further away from the frontline, passing on your knowledge to newer colleagues, and polishing off your skills by becoming the Go To person for key end user training sessions. At this stage you will start shadowing more experienced colleagues. After two years, if you are ready and able, you will start implementing smaller projects yourself.

And what qualities do we need you to have? You need to...

  • be a self-starter. If you need someone to tell you what to do constantly then please swipe left!
  • be generally good with software. The best consultants are the type of people who “just get it” and know how to help people that don’t.
  • be very personable and have an excellent telephone manner.
  • have knowledge of accountancy, perhaps already studying for ACA, CIMA, ACCA or AAT.

Sounds great, but what are the bad bits?

That would be the Directors (Lee & Andy). They will bore you senseless with facts about Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The phone doesn’t ring all the time. When you are not busy, you need to take the opportunity to learn more.

And the best bits?

Erm! That would be working with the Directors (Lee & Andy) of course. They will constantly enlighten you with useful facts about Dynamics 365 Business Central. Note to self: remove the bit above about Lee & Andy being boring!

And we are lucky enough to have very, very, nice customers. It can be really enjoyable helping out someone over the phone, sharing screens and showing them how to resolve their issue.

Okay, sounds good. I am perfect for Tres Tria. How can I get my CV to the top of the pile? Well…

…if you can somehow put across in a covering letter the reasons why you are the ideal candidate with reference to previous positions, and previous successes that are relevant to this position then great.

…previous knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV would also be beneficial

…an understanding of what an ERP system is would be very useful

…we are also involved with Dynamics CRM, so knowledge of that would be a bonus

…previous history of studying for an accounting qualification would be great

…if you are an Excel wizz, that’s useful to know. It’s the best tool to use for data migration.

What is the Package?

This is a full-time position and the salary will range from £20k to £25k. You will get 25 days holiday per year.

Office Hours?

That would be 09:00 to 17:30. Monday to Friday.

What might make me think twice about taking this position?

You are going to need a car. We are right at the end of Medway City Estate in Rochester, Kent, so being able to drive here is a must. Initially, it’s an office based role. Later on, we will need you to attend customer locations.

As mentioned above, if you need to be told what to do and when to do it then this job is not for you!

If you believe that an answer to a question might be “have you tried googling it” then this may not be the best career for you.

If you are the sort of person that can waste valuable free time during the day nosing around on Facebook rather than investing time in yourself, please let someone else benefit from this fantastic opportunity.

How do I apply?

We need a CV and a Covering Letter please. If you are currently employed, please make it clear what your notice period is with your current employer. We would also like to know the salary that you are looking for, and your current salary.

Job Type: Full-time. Permanent.

Salary: £20,000.00 to £25,000.00 /year

What will the process be?

You must send your application via email to hr@trestria.co.uk.

If we feel that you are not right for us, we will respond within a few business days. Apologies, but this will be a template response, and will solely be based on the fact that a shortlist of better suited candidates has been found.

This advert will continue to run until we have found the right person. However, we will wait until we have a suitable number of favourable candidates before we start to arrange interviews. We may pause the campaign if we receive too many applicants that we can't keep up!
