Multimedia Editorial Apprentice

Do you want to begin a career in journalism without the expense of a university course? Then the KM Media Group's apprenticeship scheme could be the break you are looking for.

Being a journalist is one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs you could do, but it's a tough industry to get into.

Our apprenticeship scheme is designed to spot candidates we think have the ability to make a successful career as a reporter and offer them an alternative path into journalism.

This is the seventh year we have run an apprenticeship scheme after our first six appointments proved to be a big success.

One has landed an amazing job as a producer on Sky News, another has been appointed our youngest-ever news editor.

Our new apprentice will gain an insight into all aspects of journalism, including writing for newspapers and websites and gaining video and radio skills.

At the end of their apprenticeship, they will be in a position to become a trainee reporter at the KM Media Group.

Salary will be in line with national minimum rates for Apprentices, plus all business and training related travel expenses. Course and exam fees are included.

Our ideal candidate will NOT have already taken a journalism course but WILL demonstrate:

  • A keen interest in news and current affairs
  • A good standard of written and spoken English
  • The confidence to work alongside our journalists in busy newsrooms
  • The dedication to study for qualifications including shorthand

If you think you could be our next apprentice, please apply online via www.kentjobs.co.uk where you will find our logo under Featured Employers. Simply click on our logo to find this role and apply by completing the online application form, as well as uploading your CV.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre at either our Ashford office or Medway office on Monday, July 15, 2019 where they will take part in exercises and a short interview. Candidates may be asked to attend a second interview on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.

Our new apprentice will start with us in August, 2019.

The closing date for applications is June 13, 2019.
