Folkestone Town Council is seeking to appoint an experienced Curator for Folkestone Museum. The museum, located within the Town Hall, opened in May 2017 and offers a focus for arts, culture and heritage linked to the town’s unique place in local, regional, national and world history.
The Curator will take responsibility for the Conservation, Activity and Business Plans developed during the HLF delivery phase.
In addition, the post holder will carry out preventative conservation work and provide engaging exhibitions, activities and outreach.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate educated to at least degree level in heritage with at least three years previous experience of working with social history collections.
Sound working knowledge of the Institute of Conservation’s Professional standards and Code of Conduct, and of the Arts Council England Accreditation standards, is also essential.
The post holder must be an excellent communicator with a proven track record in museum audience development, together with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
Interviews will be scheduled for August 2019.
