JOB SUMMARY: The Logistics Officer role requires a candidate who has previously worked in Freight and Logistics with an excellent attention to detail. Key responsibilities to include organizing multimodal shipments, obtaining rates and costings, negotiating with suppliers and carriers to ensure best value service level with every shipment. A thorough working knowledge of UK Customs Import and Export procedures & documentation. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time: · Assist Commercial Team with product availability and confirmed delivery dates. · Assist internal customers with spot freight quotes. · Administer request for freight quotes · Tender loads of Finished Goods to carriers to maximize efficiency & economy while ensuring on-time delivery. · Keep freight rates up to date in the relevant computer system(s) · Prepare Delivery Schedules · Arrange for transportation of domestic & international shipments based on customer requirements. · Prepare all necessary shipping paperwork to ensure smooth transport & clearance of goods · Liaise with Chamber of Commerce to ensure accuracy of paperwork specific to destination · Use Inventory Management System for shipping and receiving orders. · Perform general administration, reporting and filing duties · Assist with monthly and year-end raw material and finished goods stock count. Required Education, Experience & Training: · Education equivalent to 'A' level standard or higher. · Two to three years finished goods and logistics related work experience preferred. · Additional business related education and formal training in regards to Stock Control as well as Lean practices/techniques would be desirable. · The ability to deal with a fast moving & flexible work environment is essential in order to ensure SLAs are met and/or exceeded · High level of competence in Word & Excel. Previous experience with standard and/or bespoke ERP/CRM systems preferred. · Requires excellent communication skills.
