TIMBER YARD OPERATIVE – DARTFORD

We are seeking a Timber Yard Operative to join our busy operation in Questor Estate, Dartford.

South London Timber Co Ltd have been established for 33 years and are a leading supplier in the construction trade providing quality timber & plywood products to construction companies, building suppliers and the public.

Key Tasks:

• Accurately picking products for customer orders;
• Loading goods for customers;
• Loading and unloading vehicles;
• General housekeeping in the yard and keeping a clean and safe working environment;
• Keeping track of stock levels for the sales team.

Training will be provided.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be physically fit and energetic;
• Have good hand-eye co-ordination;
• Be able to handle repetitive manual tasks;
• Be hardworking and enthusiastic;
• Have good communication skills;
• Be able to work as part of a team as well as independently;
• Be happy to work in all weathers;
• Be proactive and self-motivated to ensure that the yard is working at full capacity;
• Have excellent timekeeping and attendance;
• Have own transport.
• Be literate and numerate, in terms of checking timber products in and out of the yard;
• Have the ability to work out metreage’s (training will be given);
• Have a keen interest or experience in the timber industry (not essential, training will be given);
• Hold a qualification by an accredited trainer in safely and effectively operating a counterbalance forklift truck (not essential).

This is a full-time, permanent role.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 6:30am to 4:45pm (1hour lunch break included)

28 days holiday a year, including Public/Bank Holidays.

Workplace Pension Plan

Salary range: (Based on Minimum Wage/National Living Wage) £14,500 to £20,000 per annum, dependent on relevant industry experience
