BAE Systems in Rochester is now recruiting its next cohort of Technical Apprentices. From Augmented Reality displays for fighter pilots, to flight controls found on commercial aircraft, employees in BAE Systems in Rochester design, develop and produce some of the world’s most advanced avionics equipment. As an apprentice, you’ll spend three years learning how to create and maintain this type of technology, working towards becoming a fully qualified Technician at one of the biggest technology employers in Kent.

What Does The Apprenticeship Involve?
As a Technical Apprentice, you will spend three years learning how to maintain and create electronic systems used in military and civil applications, from flight controls to Head Mounted displays.

Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) - Offsite
Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - Offsite

Overview of Business Unit
Rochester employs approximately 1500 people at a 736, 232-square-foot facility 45 minutes east of central London. The site is a product innovation and development centre with world-leading capabilities in electro-optics, electromechanical systems, safety-critical software and control systems. Rochester’s products are helmets, heads-up displays, passive and active inceptors, stability augmentation systems, control computing systems, mission systems and Power & Propulsion Solutions.
The Rochester site forms part of the Electronic Systems business with all other locations in the USA – Johnson City, Fort Worth, Ontario, etc. therefore, Rochester site is the only Electronic Systems location in the UK and is also the only one that operates accredited advanced apprenticeships.
