Homeless Outreach Officer
We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Homeless Outreach Officer to work with homelessness outreach, accommodation projects and services that help people with housing problems for one of our local government clients based in Maidstone. The Homeless Outreach Officer will provide a compassionate and supportive response to service users who have complex and vulnerable issues. They will identify the complex needs of often highly vulnerable and high risk clients, which will include, substance misuse, alcohol dependence, mental health issues, offending and violent behaviour, anti-social behaviour and individuals involved in the sex trade, and making appropriate referrals to services. They will also liaise with partner agencies to deliver multi-agency interventions, this may include taking the lead. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following: Experience of working with vulnerable people providing support, in the field of homelessness, a housing related field or another support service is essential Demonstrable experience of being able to motivate and engage with service users who are chronically and socially excluded from mainstream society and services. Experience of support planning, key working and reviewing risks in collaboration with service users Experience of multi-agency and partnership working Knowledge and experience of utilising a range of housing options to relieve and prevent homelessness, Good working knowledge of homelessness outreach, accommodation projects and services that can help people with housing problems As this is a customer focused role the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential.
