Port Health Administration Officer (Port & Public Protection)
£20,102 - £23,077 per annum
Permanent, full-time or part time

It’s an exciting time to be joining Dover District Council as we expand our Dover Port Health Authority (DPHA) service.

The work of the DPHA is vital to the smooth running of the border at Dover, and to the protection of food safety and public health in the UK.

We ensure the smooth flow of safe food through Europe’s busiest ferry port - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - and onto the shelves of shops and supermarkets across the country.

And you could play a key role in shaping this expanded operation!

We are looking for Administration Officers to support all aspects of enforcement of legal requirements in relation to animal and public health legislation in the Port in addition to administering Agents’ and Importers’ accounts relating to standard and specific charges at import.

This will involve liaising, consulting and providing reliable and accurate information and advice to relevant stakeholders such as external agencies, colleagues, members of the public, freight agents etc. as required.

You will be the first point of contact for the facility and deal with many internal and external queries so excellent communication and customer service skills are a must.

This shift based role is office based, however, in the current pandemic environment you may be required to work 37 hours a week from home until July.

Previous experience of working in public protection or local authority enforcement along with a food safety or health and safety certificate would be an advantage.
