Head of Building Surveying Permanent Kent Salary of £50k - £55k DOE A well-established, successful and forward-thinking Chartered Surveyors is looking for an articulate, intelligent and experienced Building Surveyor to Head up their Building Surveying team, predominantly for the Commercial Property sector, based in Kent. You will need to hold either MRICS or FRICS status and have experience, since qualifying, of a good range of building surveying services within the Commercial Property sector. As the Head of Building Surveying, you will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and people management skills. You will need to be a motivated professional with a good eye for detail and well-honed customer services skills. Your background and experience will be such that you can provide leadership and motivation to the small team as well as the ability to mentor APC candidates. You will be someone with ambition who by dint of your professional approach and client contact, is able to provide a positive influence on the growth of the business. Managing the Building Surveyors Department Liaise with clients and support the team to develop the client portfolio Contributing towards the team's billing and profit targets Taking responsibility for own caseload and those of each department member Managing the department budget in conjunction with the department Director Management of Team Personnel to include: Ensuring staff training is up-to-date Mentoring junior surveyors and APC candidates Support the team profile in the market and develop internal and external network for business opportunities, identifying areas for cross-selling where appropriate Hours: 9.00 am - 5.30 pm Monday to FridayGeneral Building Surveying Services to include: Ensuring projects are completed on budget and to schedule Advising clients on schemes and projects and determining requirements Preparing scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works Advising on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes Determining the condition of existing buildings; identifying and analysing defects including proposals for repair Advising on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings Instructing on construction design and management regulations Ongoing commercial building surveys for various purposes, including acquisition Carrying out feasibility studies Preparing schedules of dilapidations Preparing cost plans for bank financial appraisal purposes and undertaking monitoring inspections and reports Advising on the health and safety aspects of buildings Preparing insurance reinstatement cost assessments Preparing building survey reports on commercial and industrial properties Writing specifications and monitoring building work up to and including final account contract administration Preparing cost plans for bank financial appraisal purposes Advising on Party Wall etc Act 1996 matters Up-to-date knowledge of : Current RICS legislation The Party Wall Act 1996 Current relevant legislation Health and Safety regulations and requirementsBenefits Business Mileage: 45p per mile Health Care: A scheme is in place with Benenden Health Care Medicash - Money back on glasses, dental care, complementary therapies, physiotherapy, osteopathy and counselling; free after one years' service Holidays: The holiday allowance is 25 days.
