Compliance Coordinator
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Compliance Coordinator to join a fantastic law firm (and team) in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. You will be responsible for carrying out the new client and matter opening process in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures. This involves working closely with other members of the compliance team and with fee earning teams across the firm, whose clients include both individuals and businesses based in the UK and worldwide. MAIN DUTIES Manage incoming requests for client and matter opening Carrying out anti-money laundering checks for new clients and matters Be familiar and keep up to date with, and give pro-active guidance, or answer queries, within the firm on the firm’s relevant policies and procedures Provide face-to-face training on the firm’s relevant policies and procedures to new joiners Assist with the administration of the firm’s accreditations, Work closely with the MLRO and the/ Finance team, where necessary. EXPERIENCE At least 2 years experience in a compliance related onboarding role either in a law firm or financial/professional services company Experience working with the Money Laundering Regulations 2017. Excellent business research abilities using various online databases Accustomed to working without close supervision Excellent analytical skills, written communication skills, and judgement Experience of conflict analysis would be desirable A law degree or GDL would also be desirable. SKILLS Solid competence and accuracy in producing IT work - ideally spreadsheets plus databases and other IT systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to demonstrate investigative skills both online and on paper Flexible, energetic, organised with the ability to prioritise work Team player, keen to share skills and experience and develop colleagues/learn from them. Wide ranging experience of a solicitors practice or other similar professional firm Experience in identifying and dealing with issues relating to sanctions, high risk jurisdictions and other high risk situations.
