Senior DevSecOps Engineer - contract Location: Remote, work from home Length: Likely to be at least 3 months Rate: Neg. Likely between £450 - £600 per day (outside IR35) Sometimes ambitious companies reach a point where they know there are better ways of doing things, where 'getting by' just isn't enough. Where, despite the best efforts of a talented and committed team they just aren't quite cracking the nutin the way the nut really should be cracked. They know that there's a cleverer way to crack these particular proverbial nuts and they need just the man or woman armed and loaded to show them how to do it. and that's quite possibly the worst intro to a job advert I've ever written. Anyway, terrible intro aside, the nut in this case is DevSecOps. This mid-sized technology company has never had a DevSecOps engineer previouslybut they really need one. They've had a lead developer do their best to manage elements of the role, but they're moving on to pastures new and the new CTO sees this as an opportunity to hire someone with more specialist skills in the DevSecOps arena. You'll be someone who can drive a security-as-code culture within the business and implement best practice in infrastructure and software security across their platforms. Someone who is used to working proactively to identify vulnerabilities within CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with engineering teams and coaching teams on cyber-security best practices. Basically, you're the sort of person who can reel off the OWASP top 10 security risks in your sleep A large part of this role will involve working with the IT leadership to embed the right processes, tools and culture within the teams, so you'll need to be confident and able to make recommendations to senior stakeholders, as well as conducting top to bottom security audits and managing the delivery of changes required to achieve industry recognised certifications. The company are looking for a long term permanent hire, but are also keen to hire a contractor to start asap to cover their immediate, pressing needs. You'll need to have worked in a very similar position previously, with evidence of taking a team/department/company on a DevSecOps journey and implementing best practice and tooling. You'll also need to possess detailed knowledge of security best practice specifically within Microsoft Azure environments. The contract is for a near-immediate start and will be 100% remote based. The contract is likely to last at least 3 months and the rate will be negotiable, but likely to be between £450 - £600 per day. Please apply or contact us directly if you are interested as we will be moving quickly on this one
