Smarden Community Store is a newly built, community focused, environmentally conscious, Retail Store and Café owned and run by the local community.
We seek a Store Manager to coordinate and manage the day to day operation of the store and to lead the volunteer team. The successful applicant will have experience running a retail facility and be an excellent communicator, well organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
Due to the nature of the duties involved, the ideal candidate should live locally.
This role is initially offered as a part-time position (30hrs) with the potential become a full-time role with the continuing growth of the Store.
Essential Experience:
- At least one year managing a retail facility
- Experience managing teams
- Experience using point of sale systems
- Good communicator
Desirable Skills:
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word
- Organised
- Computer literate
Remuneration and benefits include: £20,000-24,000 per annum, dependent on experience (pro-rata part time roles)
Workplace Pension - 28 days annual leave including bank holiday (pro-rata part time roles)
Hours: Part Time – up to 30 hours (with the possibility of increasing to full time 40hr with continued business growth)
Job Description
Overall responsibilities Day to day management of Smarden Community Store and Post Office will be undertaken jointly by the PO Coordinator and the Store Manager, in line with the Business Plan, policies and Society rules.
Both the PO Coordinator and the Store Manager are responsible to the Management Committee (MC) and may be asked to attend MC meetings.
The Store Manager’s job is to ensure: Smarden Community Store and Post Office is a vibrant and successful community asset. The Store Manager will be efficient and effective in the management of the store, cafe and post office in line with the business plan, for excellent customer interactions, positive trading profits, and with minimal impact on the environment.
