GP SURGERY APPRENTICE ADMINISTRATOR (LEVEL 3/ADVANCED)
Westgate Surgery is a busy GP practice serving the population of Westgate. There are 5 doctors and 5 nurses, they provide a range of medical services.
Description of Vacancy
Westgate Surgery is a busy GP Practice serving the local residents of the area and beyond.
This is an extremely interesting and varied administrative role where you will be undertaking a number of functions in the management of patients medical records and all of the complexities that this involves, together with other administrative duties within the practice.
This role forms an important part of the smooth running of the surgery, so accuracy is paramount.
The role includes scanning, handling of post, photocopying, attaching to medical records and sending of electronic medical records to others and liaising with other departments within the surgery and with other surgeries.
This is an interesting role for someone wanting to begin a career in health care or administration.
Your role will include:
- Passing messages in a timely manner.
- Using electronic clinical systems.
- Scanning of documents
- Attaching documents to patients medical records
- Support patients accessing health care
- Support management and staff
- Liaising with other departments within the practice
- General administration and office support
Starting salary of £4.40 per hour
32 hours per week to include 6 hours study.
Days to be agreed but may be form 8.00am to 18.30 Monday to Friday.
Both Thanet loop buses and railway are fairly close to the surgery and could be used for travel.
20% paid time during working hours is given to complete training, referred to as “Off the Job Training”

GCSE Grade 4 to 9 (or Grade C or higher) in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications in these subjects.
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
