Role: Community Student Progression Mentor Location: Kent Hours: 37 hours per week Salary: £19,633 FTE per annum Duration: Fixed term - end date TBC REED are currently working with a Kent based Further Education college to recruit for new Community Student Progression Mentors to join their team. Key responsibilities: Supporting students in their personal development, enabling them to become independent learners who enjoy and achieve and are able to reach their full potential Supporting a caseload of participants to provide one to one mentoring, to enable them to take practical steps to overcome barriers preventing training and employment To be aware of students who have Education Health Care Plans and additional support needs and to work within the recommendations contained in those plans About you: The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and someone who is committed to ensuring our students are able to achieve and progress. You must have the ability to deal effectively with adult learners, relevant professionals (including external agencies) and referral partners Experience in supporting adults with mental health difficulties is advantageous - the role can be challenging and requires the post holder to be empathetic and encouraging, whilst providing a supportive and non-judgemental environment Excellent record keeping is essential for the role and competent computer skills are also required, with a knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. You will need to have a flexible approach to your work to respond receptively to changing duties and priorities.
