A new opportunity to make a difference.

The new role of Cathedral Safeguarding Officer is an opportunity to join the Cathedral team as we look to further embed good safeguarding practice in all that we do with child, young people and vulnerable adults.

The role requires expert safeguarding knowledge, as you will be a trusted advisor to the Cathedral team, capable of refining and developing safeguarding policy and best practice.

You will have previous experience of safeguarding in health/social care, education, police or the probation service.

You will work with the Cathedral’s governing body and senior staff to help lead, promote and manage the development, implementation and maintenance of appropriate safeguarding policy, good practice, training and reporting. This will involve working alongside many people in our Cathedral community, working closely and collaboratively with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team and other bodies.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Rochester Cathedral is an equal opportunities workplace. You will be sympathetic to the ethos of the Church of England.

In line with the Church of England’s safeguarding policy ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ 2021 we are committed to safer recruitment, training and people management practices.
