Reporters, Maidstone & Swale

The Kent Messenger is seeking new talent to join its Maidstone office.

If you're a trainee, newly-qualified or have years of experience under your belt, we'd love to hear from you.

Trainees and newly-qualified reporters will have hopefully completed an NCTJ-accredited course.

Seniors will need to demonstrate recent experience with another newspaper or online news title.

All candidates will be required to hold a full clean driving licence. 100wpm shorthand is also expected, though additional support can be given for those working towards this.

We are looking for applicants who are confident and outgoing, bursting with motivation and story ideas.

Seniors will be expected to work independently with little guidance from the news desk.

One of the positions is for up to 12-months' fixed term maternity leave cover, due to start in December.

As well as the award-winning, agenda-setting newspaper and KentOnline website, we operate across radio and TV, so appropriate training will be given to allow reporters to expand their skill-set.

We offer a flexible working approach with days split between the office and home. Our newsroom is in the heart of the town centre, supported by a network of staff and offices across Kent offering great career potential for aspiring journalists.

If you feel you meet the range of skills required with the personality to match, apply below.

Closing date is Friday, December 31, though vacancies may be filled should suitable candidates be found in advance of this date.
