Assistant Producer

Internationally acclaimed Jasmin Vardimon Company are seeking an Assistant Producer to join the team and build upon our excellent track record as an internationally acclaimed, global touring company.
The successful candidate will be joining the company at an exciting time as we are moving into our brand new, state of the art, Creative and Training Space in Spring 2022. As well as providing exceptional facilities for our students, our new work will be created here, prior to touring in autumn 2022 and we will be building on our acclaimed and innovative VR version of Alice, which is touring the UK from February 2022.
The role is flexible across the week (3 days) for a fixed term of 2 years. It is, however, important that the Assistant Producer is across all aspects of the company’s work from establishing relationships with existing and potential venues, festivals and commissioners, ensuring logistics are smooth and cost effective, to maintaining excellent communication across all departments and controlling the budget.

Fee: £25,000 pro rata £15,000), reviewed after 12 months
Relocation Fee: Up to £1,000 to support the move to Kent
Contract: Initial Fixed Term Service Contract 2 years

Working with: Production & Technical Manager & Tour Booker
Office Based: Part based in office during creation and non-touring, part based remotely during touring

Hours of Work: 24 hours per week with flexibility (timing to be agreed)
Notice period: 3 months following a 4-month probationary period
Leave: By way of a good will gesture the service provider will be entitled to 22 days of paid annual leave, pro rata, in addition to any statutory holidays

Job Description

The Assistant Producer will work alongside the Tour Booker and with the Executive Director, together they will be responsible for the overall running of all company productions and for maximising the opportunities to present the work nationally and internationally. The Assistant Producer will work closely with both the Artistic and Executive Director to realise the full potential for each production and to ensure they retain artistic integrity whilst remaining within the budgetary perimeters as set out in the overall company strategy.

Key Responsibilities
● Supporting the Executive Director in negotiating all Co-Commissioning relationships
● Actively meeting with international promoters and venues to promote the company’s work
● Working with the Executive Director in managing all productions and supporting special projects
● Cultivating and developing relationships with national and international venues
● Working with the Artistic Director and Tour Booker in exploring new and alternative avenues for exploiting the work
● Working with the Tour Booker in securing all touring dates for JVC
● Working with the General Manager and Tour Booker in issuing all creative contracts
● Working with the General Manager in the Issuing of all dancers’ and technicians’ contracts
● Liaising with the Artistic Director, Assistant Artistic Director and Production Technical Manager in arranging all Production Meetings
● Liaising between external Marketing Company over all promotion aspects of the productions and ensuring all parties are aware of all activities

● Liaising between the Artistic Director and Production/Technical Manager to ensure that tour dates are fit for purpose
● Working with the Assistant Artistic Director to oversee all travel, accommodation, and rehearsal space bookings
● Working with the Assistant Artistic Director to ensure accurate tour schedules and company packs are circulated to company members in advance of activity
● Being the main point of contact for the Assistant Artistic Director (Tour Co -Ordinator) throughout the tour
● Liaising with the Head of Learning & Participation to maximise any touring opportunities

● Working with the General Manager to ensure all visas and work permits are. arranged in advance and comply with the latest legislation
● Representing the Jasmin Vardimon Company at conferences and trade fairs both nationally and internationally
● Working with the Assistant Artistic Director and Production/Technical Manager to ensure the working environment on all productions is conducive to a happy and productive team.

● Assist in the smooth running of the new building and support the General Manager wherever possible in maximising opportunities
● As a National Portfolio Organisation Client for Arts Council England, to be responsible alongside the Assistant Artistic Director and Marketing Company for the collection and collation of data on all touring targets as set out in our funding agreement and provided by the General Manager
● Work with other members of the SMT and Artistic Director to provide content for the online and digital platforms

Person Specification
Essential Criteria

● Experience of working on and the creation of live performance, preferably choreographically lead.
● A strong and current knowledge of contemporary dance practice
● Demonstrable experience of successful UK & International Touring
● Excellent negotiating and diplomacy skills
● Excellent organisational skills particularly in relation to juggling numerous projects at the same time
● Strong financial management skills and experience
● Well-developed oral and written communication skills
● Ability to interact with a wide range of individuals, colleagues, artists, venues, producers and promoters
● Willingness and ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines as the production requires
● Willingness to travel to Kent
Desirable Criteria
● Experience of working within a subsidised arts organisation
● Knowledge of Education Sector – Particularly Higher and Further Education
● Knowledge of the current funding landscape
