Job Description

Head of Corporate Communications & Strategy 

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Kent has an exciting
opportunity to join the senior team as our Head of Communications and Strategy
You’ll be creating impactful content and engagement campaigns to support the Police and
Crime Commissioner’s priorities, and will be working closely with the PCC, Matthew Scott.
You will manage media enquiries and will have experience of building strong constructive
relationships with journalists and other key stakeholders.

You will be responsible for developing the OPCC’s strategic approach to all communications
and engagement and providing communications advice on a wide range of issues to the
PCC, and Senior Leadership Team within the OPCC. You will also be leading and
developing a small, dedicated team to deliver on a diverse range of proactive and reactive
communications and engagement activity.

You will also lead on public policy development, researching key issues and producing
proposals for adoption both locally and nationally that will help the PCC to cut crime, support
victims and build trust.

This role is based at Kent Police HQ in Maidstone, and there is the option for hybrid working.
The starting salary is £55,794. There will be travel, and occasional weekend and evening
work. You will require policing vetting, and the role is politically restricted as per the Local
Government Act 1989.
