Independent Custody Visitors

Job Description

The Office of the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner is recruiting Independent Custody Visitors to visit custody suites across Kent. Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs) are volunteers from the community who make unannounced visits to police custody to check on the welfare and treatment of detainees, as well as the conditions in which they are held. ICVs play an important role in maintaining public confidence in policing, and reports from visits are used to hold the police to account, as well as improve the service.  ICVs will visit their local custody suite once a month and attend 2 panel meetings a year, plus the Annual General Meeting. Whilst this role is voluntary, volunteers will be entitled to claim travelling expenses for attending visits and meetings.
