Operations Engineer

Location: Maidstone, Kent

Contract: Permanent – Part Time (14.5 hours per week)

Salary: £34,154 (pro-rata)

About the Role

A vacancy has arisen for an Operations Engineer to join our successful Parking Services team working 14.5 hours per week. The successful applicant will jointly lead a team of 5 people providing operational support across both Maidstone and Swale.

Based in Maidstone House, you will be collaborating with internal teams and contractors to ensure we deliver excellent services to the public through the management of our on-street and off-street operation including car parks, organising repairs and maintenance to pay units, developing new parking schemes, facilitating ongoing maintenance of highway restrictions and signs all within agreed timescales and within budgetary requirements.

In addition, you will be required to conduct customer/traffic movement surveys and conduct car park inspections across both Maidstone and Swale districts.

Working alongside our existing Operations Engineer you will be communicating complex issues to the public, statutory bodies and elected members and preparing reports on operational issues. Therefore, good keyboard skills are essential with proven experience in Word/Excel software and excellent communication and customer skills.

It is essential that you have a flexible approach as duties vary from day to day to meet operational needs in all weather conditions. The successful candidate will need to hold a clean full driving licence and full training will be provided.

This is a part time position on a permanent contract working Thursday and Friday.

About You:

  • A good level of education with particular emphasis on English and Maths
  • Proven experience in Word/Excel software
  • Excellent communication and customer skills
  • Ideally you will have experience of the parking industry or experience of working within an operational environment
