Job Title: Packaging Assistant (DAY SHIFT)
Reports To: Printroom Supervisor

Role Summary:
We are looking for a Packaging Assistant to support the Printroom Supervisor in maintaining high standards across all printing and labelling tasks. You will ensure that labels are produced accurately, on time, and in line with customer specifications and EEC standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all labels are printed accurately to customer specifications and EEC standards.

  • Complete label requests promptly to prevent production downtime.

  • Print the correct quantity of labels for each order.

  • Verify that the first label of every run is checked for print clarity, positioning, and barcode accuracy.

  • Check labels against customer label specifications.

  • Complete all paperwork relevant to labels and packaging.

  • Record all packaging traceability accurately on the Works Order.

  • Keep printer heads clean throughout the shift and perform thorough cleaning three times daily.

  • Perform daily housekeeping duties in the Printroom.

  • Download product label details for production lines.

  • Issue scales and toolboxes to production lines, ensuring they are charged and ready for use.

  • Follow HACCP and food hygiene procedures at all times.

  • Take accountability for all work performed in the section, promoting excellent company and customer standards.

  • Report any issues with label printing, materials, or processes to the Printroom Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Good IT skills.

  • Experience working in a temperature-controlled or production/packhouse environment.

  • Knowledge of fresh produce standards.

  • Strong written and spoken English.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks.

  • Flexible, thorough, and highly attentive to detail.

  • Able to follow instructions and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.

  • Organised and methodical in approach to work.
