About The Role

Are you the secret ingredient to Food Innovation for East Kent Colleges Group?

Joining our team as a sector specialist, you’ll leverage your expertise in food technology and product development to guide small and micro food businesses as they develop and launch innovative food products.

You’ll be the first point of contact for food businesses looking to innovate with East Kent Colleges Group, developing bespoke packages of practical support, specialist advice and training based on your own sector experience and expertise. You will oversee our Food Innovation Hub, launching in 2025, and work with sector partners to help shape our offer to food businesses in East Kent.

Please note this is a fixed term position for 12 months with potential of future opportunities. 

The role will be based in our Broadstairs College, with a brand-new food innovation hub launching in 2025. This Group role requires travel to our other colleges and to visit businesses and other stakeholders when required.

You are motivated and entrepreneurial with deep-rooted food production and/or technology knowledge. You are committed to sharing your experience, developing new resources, and mentoring micro and small businesses to innovate and succeed. With a strong commercial sense, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to quality, you’re ready to play your part in developing EKC’s Food Innovation offer, and to make a positive impact on the food sector in East Kent.

What we are looking for?

  • Someone who can draw on their deep technical expertise to mentor food businesses looking to innovate.
  • Someone who can take the initiative to develop new sector relationships, resources and initiatives as we launch and scale up our Food Innovation offer from our brand-new hub in Broadstairs (launching 2025).
  • Someone highly organised, who can successfully manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
